Side effects Mirtazapine 30MG

Besides the desired effect, this drug Mirtazapine 30MG can cause side effects. They do not affect everyone, but only those who are sensitive to them. Most side effects are most pronounced in the first week and then diminish or even disappear. They will pass when you stop taking the medicine. The main side effects are the following.

Sometimes
- Drowsiness, sleepiness and a reduced reaction time. Most people suffer from this during the first week. This is especially difficult for activities that require your attention, such as driving, climbing a ladder or monitoring processes at work. Do not engage in high-risk activities during the first week of treatment. You still have to get used to the medicine. After that, watch how you respond to the drug.
- Dry mouth, because you produce less saliva. In very rare cases you can get salivation. If you suffer a lot from a dry mouth at the beginning of the treatment, you can stimulate the production of saliva with (sugar-free) chewing gum or by sucking on ice cubes. A dry mouth is more likely to cause cavities in your teeth and inflammation of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity. Brush and floss extra well if you notice that your mouth continues to be dry. If necessary, have the dentist checked more often.
- Headache.
- After a few months: weight gain. Therefore, pay close attention to what and how much you eat. Weight gain can also be caused by your body retaining more water (edema). You will notice this in thick ankles and feet. Then consult your doctor.

Rarely

- Dizziness, especially when you get up from bed or a chair. This may be the result of lower blood pressure. Usually, the dizziness resolves in a few days or weeks, once your body has adjusted to the lower blood pressure. If you feel dizzy, do not get out of bed or a chair too quickly. It is best to lie down for a while and put your legs a little higher, for example on a pillow. If after a few weeks you still have dizziness when standing up, you should see your doctor.
- Gastrointestinal complaints, such as nausea, vomiting, constipation and diarrhea.
- Confusion, anxiety and more vivid dreams. Very rarely nightmares, periods of exaggeration (mania), anxiety and delusions.
- Fatigue, muscle pain, joint pain and back pain. In very rare cases, muscle pain may develop due to a serious side effect on the muscles. You then have muscle weakness, fever, nausea and you feel very ill. Then notify your doctor immediately.
- Trembling, shaking, muscle cramps and restless legs.
- Skin rash. If you notice this, see your doctor. You may be hypersensitive to this drug.

Very rarely

- Difficulty sitting still, restlessness.
- Numbness or tingling in the arms or legs, numbness in the mouth. In rare cases it is more difficult to speak clearly.
- Convulsions. People with epilepsy are more likely to have a fit.
- Difficulty urinating. This is especially important if you already have difficulty passing urine due to an enlarged prostate. Contact your doctor if you notice this.
- Less production of white blood cells or platelets. You will notice this from a sore throat, fever, nosebleeds, blisters in the mouth and bruises. Then contact your doctor immediately.
- Mood change, increase in depressive thoughts, feelings of hostility towards oneself or others. This can manifest itself as aggression, self-harm or thoughts of suicide. If, on the other hand, feelings of depression increase or worsen, contact your doctor. Young people under the age of 18 are more likely to have these side effects. Doctors usually do not prescribe this medicine to them.
- Inflammation of the pancreas. Notify your doctor in case of very severe persistent stomach pain.
- Cardiac arrhythmias. You sometimes only notice this when you suddenly feel dizzy or when you get away for a while. Especially people with the heart rhythm disorder prolonged QT interval are more likely to have this. Do NOT use this medication if you have this heart rhythm disorder.
- Serotonin syndrome. You may notice this: shaking, shaking, urge to move, muscle twitching, agitation, confusion, anxiety, fever, sweating, increased heart rate and reduced consciousness. These phenomena do not always involve serotonin syndrome. Some of these side effects may also be part of your disease or go away on their own. If in doubt, consult your doctor as it is a serious side effect. Also tell people close to you about these side effects, as you may not always notice them due to the confusion and reduced consciousness. They can then contact the doctor.
- Hypersensitivity to this drug. You will notice this by a rash, itching and hives. Very rarely, severe hypersensitivity may occur. You may get blisters on the skin or lips and oral mucosa or a severe red discoloration of the skin. Then notify a doctor immediately. If you are found to be hypersensitive, you should not use this medicine in the future. Therefore, inform the pharmacist that you are hypersensitive to Mirtazapine 30MG. The pharmacy team can then ensure that you do not receive this medicine again.

Consult your doctor if you experience too much of any of the above side effects or if you experience any other side effects that you are concerned about.
